Jonathan (Jonny) Schauder is one of Melbourne’s most experienced and well known experts in leadership, relationships, personal and interpersonal skills, dispute resolution, negotiation, collaboration and creating high performing teams and cultures.

As a professional coach, mediator, trainer and senior consultant from 1997-2008 with the Harvard based training firm, CMA, Jonathan demonstrated his ability to enable individuals and groups to achieve their best. His clients have spanned the full gamut of community, government, social and commercial sectors. For example, Monsanto, Vicroads,  Australia Post, NAB, Monsanto, ITSS, Northern, Southern, Melbourne Health and Alfred Hospital, Sustainability Victoria, St John Ambulance, Brimbank City Council, BMD, Worksafe, TAC, Leighton Contractors, Bayside City Council and the Melbourne Water Resources Alliance.

Over 30,000 delegates have attended his conferences, workshops, facilitations or coaching sessions.

In 1998 Jonathan taught negotiation and mediation skills for lawyers at Harvard Law School. He completed advanced mediation training with the world recognized mediation experts, Bush and Folger; and has worked with Professor Roger Fisher, author of the internationally acclaimed text, “Getting to Yes”.

Earlier in his career he worked with the Victorian Police Academy, taught final year Strategic Management in the School of Economics and Commerce at Monash University and was a Youth Worker with the City of Kingston. He was Chairman of the Family Mediation Centre from 2000-2002, Having had training and consulting relationships with Vicroads and Treasury for the past 10 years, Jonathan has consulted with many major infrastructure projects, and is currently the leadership coach on the $2.4 billion, Western Ring Road Upgrade.

His One-Team initiative at the Deer Park Bypass won the prestigious national award for Best Project Culture and Leadership from the AIPM in 2009.

Jonny has played a significant part in the shift of the construction industry in Victoria from adversarial to collaborative relationship management and has published articles and delivered many key note addresses on collaborative contracting. He presented two separate key note addresses at the latest Roads Conference. The first was on outstanding stakeholder relationships and engagement based on the Rooks and Mitcham Roads Grade Sepearation Business Case; the other was on outstanding Project team collaboration based on the Pound Road Upgrade.

Jonathan has lectured in Mediation and Negotiation at Monash Law School at undergraduate, post-graduate and advanced post-graduate levels; and has also lectured in the Monash University MBA on Business Strategy and Negotiation.

As a leader in the mediation movement, Jonny has trained many professional mediators and facilitators around Melbourne - from private practitioners to panellists at VCAT; been a Board Member of LEADR Mediation Victoria from 2005-2007, and sat on the Beth Din (Jewish Court) Commercial Disputes Committee from 2007-2008.

His latest work has seen him delivering cutting edge seminars on stakeholder engagement, change leadership, achieving work-life balance, time and stress management, and strategic planning. 

Jonathan is married with five children and lives in Melbourne.
